GUY volunteers at several organizations ...

Guy volunteers two days per week across several organizations in two broad domains which he enjoys: food and books. Volunteering is helping people who are less fortunate than oneself, but if you don't enjoy the work and the people you work with it won't be sustainable, you won't keep coming back with gusto!

In addition to the areas below, Guy is on the Season Planning and Communications Committees at Ottawa Little Theatre, and is the mentor to the 10-minute playwriting group at Kanata Theatre.

FOOD

For two years, from 2021-2023, Guy spent Wednesday and Friday mornings at Food For Thought, as a kitchen assistant, chopping and peeling mounds of vegetables and trimming meat. At the peak of pandemic we produced up to 1200 hot meals per day for delivery to numerous organizations.

Following the closure of Food For Thought, Guy now regularly volunteers as a kitchen assistant and food bank sorter and packer at the Parkdale Food Centre, and as a kitchen assistant at the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.

Please consider supporting these excellent organizations.

BOOKS

In the Fall of 2021, Guy began volunteering twice per week for the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association. At both the St. Laurent and North Gloucester branches of the public library, Guy helps to run the used books stores that generate funds for supplementary library programs. He sorts and categorizes donated books and media, keeps the shelves current, and is also one of the bookstores' best customers!

Come and browse our shelves, you are bound to find something that interests you at a great price!
